Ukie: Website Redesign & Build

Redefining their digital presence

Tag: Website

You don’t get asked to redesign and rebuild the entire website for the UK’s video games trade body every day. So when Ukie came to us with this project, we were genuinely thrilled to jump in and create something special.

THE BRIEF

Ukie wanted more than just a new website - they needed a pivotal platform that would do the following:

  • Better reflect their position as a professional and authoritative trade body for the UK games industry.
  • Stand out visually and functionally in a particularly competitive landscape.
  • Rigorous user testing, specifically focused on membership area usability.
  • Provide a modern, intuitive membership area that members would actively enjoy using.

There were two very important goals:

    1. Create a compelling public facing corporate site that clearly communicates Ukie’s mission.
    2. Build a member portal that delivers an excellent user experience.

Over the course of 6 months we worked with Ukie to make sure we designed and built them the exact platform they desired. Our team were on hand all the time to respond to requests and make adjustments. Here's the breakdown of each phase.

THE DESIGN PHASE

We went through extensive wireframing for the site and members’ area, going through multiple iterations to ensure we absolutely nailed Ukie’s requirements. We walked them through each design stage on regular calls, so they felt super involved.

PEOPLE-FOCUSED CONTENT

We needed the site to feel human and approachable, so we conducted a full day of on-site b-roll filming, along with professional headshots, which came out looking both incredibly slick and, more importantly, authentic.

INTEGRATING THE TECH

Finally came the time to really bring the pieces together and complete the end-to-end build of the editorial website and the membership portal. It was absolutely essential that the site retained all these features:

  • Fully optimised performance and smooth navigation.
  • Seamless integration between the public and member areas.
  • Future scalability to support Ukie’s strategic ambitions.

FINAL DELIVERABLES

  • Low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes for the Ukie editorial site.
  • Development and deployment of the main editorial site.
  • Scoping, specification, wireframing, and full build of the membership area.
  • Creative production to produce content for the site, including filming and headshots.
  • Comprehensive site optimisation and membership testing.
  • 12 months of hosting from launch with development support.

The result?

We were thrilled to launch exactly to schedule on Ukie Member’s Day on 4th March 2025 to an overwhelmingly positive reaction, complementing everything from the fresh, professional design, to the intuitive members’ area. People were impressed to see how Ukie now has a strong digital presence to match their industry leadership.
I just wanted to send a huge thank you to you all for your fantastic work on the new Ukie website... The site looks great, works beautifully, and really reflects everything we hoped it would – a mature, professional trade body website representing one the UK’s fastest growing industries.
