PLAION: Nobody Wants To Die visualisers

Keeping this noir thriller front of mind

Tag: Video

One of the most compelling releases from PLAION last year was Nobody Wants To Die. The game’s stunning trailer captivated audiences, leaving players in awe of the visuals - even more so when the title was revealed to be developed by the small indie team at Critical Hit Games.

After effectively capturing gamers’ attention, the next step was to deliver content that would deepen their interest, drawing them into the immersive world and encouraging them to experience the noir-thriller story. This is where Project N came in.

With such incredible worldbuilding, Project N took a unique approach into the creation of the assets. PLAION wanted to tease elements of the narrative, characters and rich dystopian world in the game, without letting the captivating visuals overshadow them. The team decided to create audio visualisers that utilised dialogue from the two main characters. The developers carefully selected lines that were cryptic enough to not spoil anything, but engaging enough to spark players’ curiosity about the context and how they fit into the story.

The Project N video team used After Effects to build dynamic motion graphics that pulsated in sync with the voice lines, simultaneously displaying text of the dialogue. Each visualiser had to be adapted to fit the various aspect ratios required for each social platform where the assets would be shared.

The visualisers proved to be a smart, curiosity-sparking asset in the marketing of Nobody Wants To Die, offering players an enticing glimpse into the story they would be embroiled in.

This strategic approach not only amplified the mystery around the game, but also strengthened anticipation, ensuring Nobody Wants To Die remained top of mind for players eager to explore its dark, immersive narrative.
