Case Study: Abstraction: Social Media, Video, & Branding

World-class work-for-hire studio drafts in Project N!

Back in winter 2023, Project N added an exciting new client to its list of collaborators – Abstraction Games.

Abstraction operates from a unique position in the games industry. As a co-development and game adaptation studio, they are usually drafted in to assist with the development of games from AAA studios, utilizing a large pool of in-house development talent. This often involves porting games to different platforms, assisting with game design, and tackling complex technical challenges.

As the studio's work is support based and usually outside of the public eye, they set out the goal of raising their profile with beautiful branding and a renewed social media presence. This would help them catch the attention of more partners and provide a bigger platform for sharing news about their projects.

That's where we came in.

Having worked on huge titles like Baldur's Gate 3, Halo Master Chief Collection, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and more, there was a huge amount of work for Abstraction to shout about.

Our goal was to help Abstraction strengthen their brand visibility, sharpen their social identity, and create marketing assets that attract future partners and talent.

To help position Abstraction as a leading co-development partner, we produced a high-energy showreel designed to celebrate the studio's contribution to some major gaming titles. Working closely with the team, we compiled footage from projects including Baldur's Gate 3, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Project N combined impactful editing, dynamic motion graphics, and a strong beat cut to show off the studio's presence and technical expertise.

Next, we set out to expand Abstraction's social media presence. We developed a series of visual assets with playful jokes, interesting trivia, and behind-the-scenes information provided by the studio. These assets were designed to engage their audience and highlight some of the impressive work the studio had done. We also produced engaging carousel posts for them to use on LinkedIn as case studies for the work on these popular games, attracting new business.

Another intriguing aspect of this project was creating game assets work, led by our in-house design team. We worked closely with the studio to develop cohesive branding for an exciting upcoming game launch that has yet to be revealed.

Beyond this, Project N has helped position the work for hire studio better to win new business via social content, pdf whitepapers, and other sales collateral.
